![]() I had some time to think today. Waiting for the kids to finish their art lesson I went for a wander along the Katikati Estuary http://www.katikati.co.nz/ There were a few birds, mostly too far away for my 200mm and poor light. The weather was not very pleasant, windy, sunless and pretty drab. It is interesting then, what catches our attention if we take the time to look. I went out determined to find something photo-worthy that caught my interest. There was a car with young hoody clad men in it, parked, not in the parking area, but actually on the mud flats in the estuary (I hope they are not still there, the tide was coming in!). I briefly considered approaching them for an impromptu portrait session. (I wonder how I would have been received? Might try it sometime!). No, today it was tree stumps, four of them. these guys look like they have been washed in from somewhere because they are not rooted in the ground. Or perhaps someone dumped them there. Anyway they are nestled together facing the elements, devoid of actual life, yet still strong. How many years will they last for? Will they remain here or float away on a king tide to another location. One thing is certain, time will change them one way or another, just as it does-us.

AuthorI am a visual person. I find that surrounding myself in creation, feasting my eyes on what is before me and daydreaming a little is great refreshment for my soul. I also read avidly about trends, techniques and technicalities associated with visual art. When I can, I love assigning large chunks of time responding to what I see and crafting my own art. Here is a place to put that down. Archives
