Waihi Beach is
What is it about the beach that sooths the soul? In fact it may be simply being near water. I think of gardens with elaborate fountains, or even a simple goldfish pond. One of the joys of photography is being able to showcase such places. Eugene Tan from Aquabumps www.aquabumps.com makes his living (indirectly) from visiting the beach and documenting the sunrise and goings on each day. Not a bad life and not a bad following with 40,000 odd daily email subscribers. I am one and I just don't seem to tire of his stunning photography. I also can't believe how packed out Bondi beach in Australia, is at am in the morning and it's not even summer yet! Waihi Beach is a tad quieter than Bondi even in our full holiday season which is fast approaching. We have more open space here but we certainly don't have a dedicated everyday dawn photographer. I'm just not quite that driven. The above photo was taken at 4:41 pm today. A lovely afternoon with a stiff breeze and kites flying in the reserve up the road.

AuthorI am a visual person. I find that surrounding myself in creation, feasting my eyes on what is before me and daydreaming a little is great refreshment for my soul. I also read avidly about trends, techniques and technicalities associated with visual art. When I can, I love assigning large chunks of time responding to what I see and crafting my own art. Here is a place to put that down. Archives
