One of the best things about living near to a large body of water, is that things seem to change more readily. A little wind here, a spot of rain in the distance or a rather large storm all make differences to the light and the environment. Being at the beach gives a wide open expansive view to be able to enjoy the changes. Some people
All my earlier talk about getting to the beach and taking time out, usually with my dog and I realised that I haven't actually posted a picture of him at all. Well here he is, standing proud at our beautiful beach this morning. The summer weather keeps on coming and we are trying to make the most of it.
The surf has been crazy in the last few days due to a
What is it about the beach that sooths the soul? In fact it may be simply being near water. I think of gardens with elaborate fountains, or even a simple goldfish pond. One of the joys of photography is being able to showcase such places. Eugene Tan from Aquabumps www.aquabumps.com makes his living (indirectly) from visiting the beach and documenting the sunrise and goings on each day. Not a bad life and not a bad following with 40,000 odd daily email subscribers. I am one and I just don't seem to tire of his stunning photography. I also can't believe how packed out Bondi beach in Australia, is at am in the morning and it's not even summer yet!

Sometimes when we really want to do something, we just can't. A fact of life really. In fact this may be the only story of many peoples lives. So, may I be grateful when I am eventually able to do those things that I really love to do. My 'eventually' is only usually a few days anyway. Perhaps the key to being able to enjoy what we do often, is to rearrange our lives to suit that. Make the sacrifices, quit the procrastination and
Apparently there is a tropical storm that will show it's face on our weather radar in the next few days. I love living near the beach and watching the slow change over the days as a storm comes from the East or North East. These storms are usually tropical (ish) in origin and therefore far more interesting to me now that I live on the East coast, than the wintery southerly blast we get. The ocean usually
This is a B & W infrared conversion shot taken about 3 km away from where I live. I love the beach and no doubt it will feature greatly.
One has to start somewhere. The beginning usually. As our journey progresses if we pay enough attention, things may improve in various areas of our lives. I would love this to be true of my life. Spiritually I would love to see an improvement but practically, most especially with Photography. I have studied it formally to achieve a Diploma in Digital Photography, but quite honestly when I first started to pay attention
I am a visual person. I find that surrounding myself in creation, feasting my eyes on what is before me and daydreaming a little is great refreshment for my soul. I also read avidly about trends, techniques and technicalities associated with visual art. When I can, I love assigning large chunks of time responding to what I see and crafting my own art. Here is a place to put that down.
